Gwen Mesco, Writer

Gwen Mesco began her screenwriting career on “nonfiction” shows ranging from acclaimed documentaries to BIG BROTHER to MTV parodies. Inspired by her volunteer organizing work with the WGA effort to unionize reality writers, she had a personal Elle Woods moment and moved east to attend law school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as co-president of the LGBT student group.

After graduation, Gwen interned for the White House Domestic Policy Council under President Obama, followed by a stint in corporate law that made her realize that she’d made a bit of an overcorrection in her career path. She started taking classes at UCB and the Magnet Theater, where she became a regular writer and performer on sketch comedy teams, and was tapped to be one of the original writers for REDUCTRESS.

Gwen loves to write comedy with heart, and because neither jokes nor hearts are welcome in the legal world, she has no choice but to write for television.
